The International Baccalaureate offers a continuum of programs designed to develop students intellectually, personally, emotionally, and socially. At Planète Montessori International School, we offer all three programs, providing families with a complete IB school in Morocco experience.

The IB Continuum: A Complete Educational Journey

Each IB program is designed for a specific age group and builds upon the previous one, creating a seamless educational experience from early childhood through high school graduation.

Primary Years Programme (PYP)

Ages: 3-12 years

The PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world beyond. At our bilingual international school in Marrakech, the PYP provides the foundation for all future learning.

Key Features:

  • Transdisciplinary learning — six themes that explore knowledge across subject areas
  • Inquiry-based approach — students ask questions and construct understanding
  • Concept-driven curriculum — focus on big ideas that transfer across contexts
  • Action and service — students learn to make a difference in their community

Culmination: The PYP Exhibition, where students demonstrate their learning through an extended, collaborative inquiry project.

Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Ages: 11-16 years

The MYP builds upon the PYP foundation, challenging students to make connections between their studies and the real world. It provides a framework that encourages students to become creative, critical, and reflective thinkers.

Key Features:

  • Eight subject groups — comprehensive curriculum covering all academic areas
  • Global contexts — learning connected to real-world situations and issues
  • Conceptual understanding — focus on key concepts that deepen learning
  • Approaches to learning (ATL) — explicit development of learning skills

Culmination: The Personal Project, an independent inquiry project that demonstrates student learning.

Diploma Programme (DP)

Ages: 16-19 years

The DP is a challenging two-year curriculum that leads to a qualification recognized by universities worldwide. It represents the pinnacle of IB education.

Key Features:

  • Six subject groups — students study languages, sciences, mathematics, arts, and more
  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK) — critical thinking course examining how we know what we know
  • Extended Essay — independent research project on a topic of student choice
  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) — experiential learning outside the classroom

Culmination: IB Diploma examinations and qualification.

How the Programs Connect

At Planète Montessori, we’ve designed our curriculum so that each program naturally leads to the next. Skills developed in the PYP serve students in the MYP, and MYP learning prepares students for DP success.
