Empowering education: International Baccalaureate PYP Accreditation at PMIS

Planete Montessori International School team works every day to strengthen international standards and is very proud to announce that we have received the accreditation of the International Baccalaureate for the Primary Years Programme (PYP for 3-12 years).

Our goal is to receive the accreditation for the MYP and DP and offer the IB curriculum from 3 to 18 years old.

We would like to deeply thank the entire school community for its unwavering support and unconditional commitment over the past three years. The IB world is an international family, which focuses on the comprehensive development and well-being of children, and therefore aligns perfectly with the pedagogy that we provide within our institution.

By combining IB curriculum with Montessori pedagogy we have the opportunity to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young learners who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. We believe that cooperation and communication between families and school strengthen our educational partnership and are essential for our students’ success.

What is the PYP program ?

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is one of the 4 IB Programs (PYP, MYP, DP, CP) that focuses on the development of 3-12 years old students, helping them to become active, caring, lifelong learners. PYP offers an inquiry-based, trans-disciplinary curriculum framework that builds conceptual understanding. It reflects the best of educational research, thought leadership and experience derived from IB World Schools. The PYP has evolved to become a world leader in future-focused education. The PYP is an example of best educational practice globally, responding to the challenges and opportunities facing young students in our rapidly changing world.

PYP students use their initiative to take responsibility and ownership of their learning. By learning through inquiry and reflecting on their own learning, PYP students develop knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and the attributes of the IB learner profile to make a difference in their own lives, their communities and beyond.

The PYP is organized around the six transdisciplinary themes. Transdisciplinary learning in the PYP conveys learning that has relevance between, across and beyond subjects and transcends borders connecting to what is real in the world.

What is the International Baccalaureate learner profile ?

The IB Learner Profile describes a broad range of attributes that embrace a holistic approach to education and support all members of the school community in developing respect for themselves, others, and the world around them. IB students develop as: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective. These are our school values.

What are the IB approches to learning ?

Our students develop skills that have relevance across the curriculum that help them “learn how to learn.”

Approaches To Learning skills can be learned and taught, improved with practice, and developed incrementally. They provide a solid foundation for learning independently and with others.

It supports students of all ages in being agentic and self-regulated learners. Through a variety of strategies, PYP teachers collaboratively plan for implicit and explicit opportunities to develop ATL both inside and outside the programme of inquiry.
