Diploma Programme (DP) — Years 12 & 13 (Candidate)
The IB Diploma Programme (DP) at Planète Montessori International School (PMIS) prepares students for success at university and beyond through academic rigour, independent thinking, and effective time management. Designed for students aged 16 to 19, the DP develops confident, reflective learners equipped with the skills required for higher education and global citizenship.
Learning in the DP emphasises conceptual understanding, critical analysis, advanced research skills, and academic writing. Students are challenged to think deeply, manage complex workloads, and engage with learning in a disciplined and responsible way. The programme further strengthens the IB Learner Profile and advanced Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, with a strong focus on academic integrity, independent inquiry, and intellectual curiosity
The DP Core: Learning at the Heart of the Programme
At the centre of the Diploma Programme is the DP Core, which supports students in becoming balanced, principled, and reflective learners. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) invites students to explore how knowledge is constructed, encouraging them to question assumptions, examine different perspectives, and develop critical reasoning skills.
The Extended Essay (EE) allows students to conduct an independent, in‑depth research investigation of up to 4,000 words on a topic of personal interest, preparing them for the academic demands of university‑level research and writing. Through Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), students engage in experiences beyond the classroom that support wellbeing, leadership, personal growth, and meaningful contribution to the community
DP Readiness and Support at PMIS
At PMIS, high academic expectations are balanced with strong academic and pastoral support. Students are guided in developing advanced writing and analytical skills, effective study habits, and strong time‑management strategies. Structured support is provided across the DP Core, alongside comprehensive university guidance and opportunities for leadership and personal development.

MEET OUR MYP & DP COORDINATOR
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to a new academic year at Planète Montessori International School. I am honored to continue serving as the Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator, and it is a privilege to enter my third year with the PMIS family—an institution deeply committed to educational excellence, innovation, and the holistic development of every learner.
As a candidate school for the MYP, we are proud of the progress made in recent years. Our dedicated team has worked diligently to implement and strengthen the MYP as a distinct, forward-thinking educational framework at PMIS. Designed for students aged 11 to 16, the MYP serves as a bridge between the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and our vision of offering the Diploma Programme (DP).
We are committed to completing the full authorization process to become a recognized DP school, providing a rich, concept-driven curriculum that fosters international-mindedness, inquiry-based learning, and personal growth.
The MYP empowers students by developing their academic skills while nurturing their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and act with integrity. Each subject area uses its own assessment criteria, while the programme as a whole cultivates a broad set of learner attributes, fostering principled, reflective, and compassionate individuals. Through interdisciplinary learning, service as action, and the Personal Project, students are challenged to apply their knowledge meaningfully within and beyond the classroom.
At PMIS, we are fortunate to have a passionate and professionally trained team of IB educators who are committed to continuously refining instructional practices and integrating the latest international standards. We embrace a collaborative, student-centered approach that prepares our learners not only for academic success but also for real-world leadership.
In the MYP, students are encouraged to become agents of their own learning—exploring ideas, asking questions, and seeking solutions with confidence and curiosity.
Equally important to the success of our programme is the partnership between home and school. As we navigate the MYP together, I look forward to open communication and shared engagement. Your presence at parent-teacher meetings, exhibitions, and school events plays a vital role in strengthening the learning journey.
I invite you to reach out at any time via email should you have questions, suggestions, or require guidance. I remain fully committed to supporting both our students and their families throughout the year.
Together, I am confident we will make this academic year a meaningful and successful one for all.
Warm regards,
Dr. Anees Ur Rahman
MYP Coordinator
