Pathways to the Future: Extending Education at Planète Montessori International School
Our Middle School programme at PMIS currently welcomes learners aged 12 to 15,
offering a nurturing yet academically rigorous environment that bridges the gap
between primary education and the upper secondary years.
We are thrilled to announce that, as part of our continued growth, our programme
will expand to include learners up to 18 years old starting in September 2026, paving the way toward the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP).
This important step ensures that students will soon be able to complete their full
educational journey with us — from early years through to graduation — within an
inspiring, internationally-minded environment.
Why choose PMIS for Middle School?
Where learning meets purpose
At Planète Montessori International School (PMIS), Middle School is more than just a transition, it’s a transformative journey. These are the years when students begin to discover who they are, what they care about, and how they want to impact the world. At PMIS, we nurture that journey with intention, care, and a globally-minded approach. Our Middle School programme is designed to challenge, inspire, and support every learner, academically, socially, and emotionally. We combine the best of Montessori principles with internationally recognised standards to create a learning environment where students thrive.
PMIS is a place where every student is valued, heard, and encouraged to be themselves — all within a warm, supportive environment.
A World-Class academic framework
We proudly follow the British School Overseas (BSO) standards, ensuring a solid academic foundation while embracing the inquiry-based, student-centered philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB). As an IB World School, our Middle School is part of a long-term vision to guide students all the way through to the Middle Years School (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (DP).
Our goal is to offer learners a seamless educational journey, preparing them for international university admissions and global careers. Our first cohort of high school students is already preparing for the full IB Diploma experience — an exciting step for our school community.

Inspiring & Student-Centered
Learning that connects, challenges, and Inspires!
In our Middle School Years Programme, students don’t just study subjects — they engage with real-world questions, work through interdisciplinary projects, and build skills that go far beyond the classroom. Following the IB philosophy and supported by the British School Overseas (BSO) standards, our teaching approach is rooted in:

Project-Based Learning
Students take part in meaningful, inquiry-driven projects that connect academic disciplines. Whether they’re solving local environmental issues, designing prototypes, or exploring cultural identities, they learn by doing.

Critical Thinking & Reflection
Learners are encouraged to ask questions, evaluate sources, and reflect on their progress, helping them become independent thinkers.

Personalized Growth
Through regular goal-setting and mentorship, each student progresses at their own pace, supported by teachers who truly know them.

International Benchmarking
Our students participate in the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments, allowing us to track academic development and tailor support to each learner’s needs while helping families understand how their child performs on a global scale.

Subjects Offered
The Middle School curriculum at PMIS provides a balanced and rigorous education through the following eight subject groups:
These subject areas are taught through interdisciplinary connections and global contexts, helping students understand and apply knowledge across disciplines.
Global Citizenship in Action
At PMIS, we believe in preparing students not just for exams — but for the world.
As part of our internationally focused curriculum, both our Primary and Middle School students actively participate in international programmes that broaden their horizons and develop essential life skills.
One of the cornerstones of this approach is our long-standing participation in the Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN). For several years, PMIS students have proudly taken part in this transformative programme, travelling to conferences in New York and Italy, where they step into the shoes of real UN delegates.

Through MMUN, our students:
- Engage deeply with global issues such as sustainability, peace, human rights, and education.
- Develop critical 21st-century skills like negotiation, diplomacy, public speaking, and collaboration.
- Gain confidence in expressing themselves and standing up for ideas that matter.
- Connect with young people from around the world, learning to value diverse perspectives.
- Experience real-world leadership and teamwork in an international setting.
These experiences are more than just educational trips — they’re life-shaping opportunities that empower our students to see themselves as global citizens and changemakers.
